Global Thought Leader in BI Innovation to Deliver Keynote Address at the 5th Annual Great Lakes Business Intelligence & Big Data Summit

Donald Farmer is a familiar face at the Great Lakes Business Intelligence & Big Data Summit and we are thrilled to have him back for the third time to deliver an insightful keynote address at our 5th annual BI & Big Data Summit on March 30, 2017! As the Principal of TreeHive Strategy, Donald is an internationally respected thinker in the fields of data analysis and innovation with over 30 years of deeply practical experience. He has worked in award-winning startups in the UK and Iceland, and spent 15 years at Microsoft and Qlik leading teams designing and developing new enterprise capabilities in data integration, data mining, self-service analytics and visualization.

This year, Donald’s keynote will address the challenges of data governance in an age of self-service. Traditionally, IT departments have been a gatekeeper for data and provided business users with dashboards, visualizations and reports. With the advent of self-service analytics tools, business users are demanding access to the raw data sources to engage in data discovery themselves. In this session, Donald will show how IT can respond effectively to these demands, but only if they also use the appropriate governance tools and techniques to make data discovery truly effective and enterprise-ready in a modern organization.
