On August 6, Team WIT participated as a Race Support Sponsor of the 4th Annual End Homelessness Now 5K/10K Run/Walk. Hosted by South Oakland Shelter (SOS), the race brought together over 350 participants and volunteers to St. David’s Episcopal Church in Southfield, Michigan. For over 30 years, SOS has been ending homelessness for individuals and families in crisis. With an emphasis on homeless prevention, sustainable housing solutions, and career development, SOS implements strategies and programs that provide realistic options for homeless and at-risk people seeking stabilization and self-sufficiency.
The day’s festivities began with a 1 mile ‘fun run’, followed immediately by the 5K/10K race. After the race, a delicious pancake breakfast was served, and the event concluded with a moving interfaith celebration. Over $50,000 was raised to help support individuals and families in SOS’s housing program.
“Participating in the race was a rewarding and fun experience for the WIT team,” said Quaid Saifee, President of WIT. “We hope to be able to sponsor the event again next year, and for years to come.”
